A multiple-choice quiz on RACQ’s Facebook page asked road users to guess how much the fine was, with options of $91, $191, $291 or $391 available.
RACQ spokesperson Lucinda Ross said as community members commented on the post, it became clear many did not realise what the penalty was for the infringement.
“Failing to stop at a stop line at an intersection without traffic lights could result in three demerit points and a $391 fine,” Ms Ross said.
“It’s important drivers take the time to come to a complete stop before the stop line, give way and only proceed once it is safe to do so.”
Drivers could follow RACQ’s Facebook page to stay up-to-date on the road rules.
