Road closures to make way for Brisbane Marathon

The State’s peak motoring body has urged motorists to plan ahead and be aware of traffic changes on Sunday which would be in place for the annual Brisbane Marathon.

RACQ spokesperson Renee Smith said several roads in and around the New Farm, Kangaroo Point and South Brisbane areas, including the Story Bridge, would be temporarily closed on Sunday morning for the event.

“Many of the majors including River Terrace, Vulture Street and Grey Street will be closed from as early as 3am Sunday. These are quite extensive traffic disruptions so drivers will need to plan their journeys ahead of their travel,” Ms Smith said.

“Most roads will begin reopening from about 9.30am, so you may like to consider delaying your trip until after then.

“It’s really important everyone packs their patience and prepares by checking RACQ’s Road Conditions website.”
