Road closures ahead for Mother’s Day Classic

The State’s peak motoring body has reminded drivers traffic changes would be in place across the south east for the Mother’s Day Classic events this weekend.

RACQ spokesperson Clare Hunter said several roads in and around Brisbane and the Gold Coast would be temporary closed on Sunday as walkers and runners took to the streets to raise money for breast cancer research.

“Between 5:30am and 10:30am on Sunday, we’ll see a number of roads closed in South Bank and West End in Brisbane, and at Broadbeach and Mermaid Beach on the Coast,” Ms Hunter said.

“Signage and traffic controllers will be deployed to help direct motorists around the area and keep participants safe and we’d urge road users to pay attention to them.

“It’s really important everyone plans ahead to avoid being caught in lengthy traffic delays by visiting RACQ Road Conditions. You may even like to consider leaving the car at home and catching public transport.”

More information including a full list of road closures could be found on the Mother’s Day Classic website.
