Major traffic changes this weekend

The State’s peak motoring body has warned Brisbane motorists traffic changes would be in place at two major road construction sites this weekend.

RACQ spokesperson Lucinda Ross said Kingsford Smith Drive would be reduced to one lane in each direction between Agnes Street and Toorak Road from Friday evening until Monday morning.

“These changes are temporarily required so construction can progress at the Cooksley Street intersection as part of the Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade,” Ms Ross said.

“Fortunately, two lanes will be maintained in each direction during peak times on Saturday.

“Motorists should expect some delays, so allow additional travel time or consider taking an alternative route.”

Ms Ross said traffic changes would also be in place at several sections of the Logan Enhancement Project site.

“The Logan Motorway eastbound off-ramp to Beaudesert Road will be temporarily closed from 8pm Friday until 5am Monday so asphalting, barrier installation and traffic realignment activities can take place,” she said.

“In addition, the Logan Motorway between the Gateway Motorway and Wembley Road will be closed in both directions for several hours from 10pm Saturday. Detours will be in place via local roads.

“When driving through any construction site, it’s really important drivers observe the signage in place, stick to the speed limit and obey the instructions of any traffic controllers on the ground. All roadside workers deserve to be kept safe while on the job, and we can all do our bit to protect them.”
