MMC on the move

A month after it arrived in Townsville to support members impacted by the region’s devastating flood, RACQ’s Mobile Member Centre (MMC) was set to return Brisbane.

RACQ spokesperson Lucinda Ross said the MMC would leave the region on Friday 8 March.

“Our members can continue to access services at the RACQ Branch at Aitkenvale and RACQ Bank in the Stockland Shopping Centre,” Ms Ross said.

“The MMC headed a convoy of 10 towing, roadside patrol and support vehicles, which arrived in Townsville in early February at the height of the once in 500-year flood event.”

Ms Ross said close to 600 members had visited the ‘branch on wheels’ for help with insurance claims, banking enquiries and other member services over the past month.

“It’s been a humbling and rewarding experience for staff who have worked in the MMC during this extremely tough time for the local community,” she said.

“Our people have shared tears of despair and joy with our members and marvelled at their resilience.

“We take great personal pride in being able to help when our members need us most.”
