The State’s peak motoring body welcomed the $114.1 million program, which has seen extra parking planned for nine bus and train stations across SEQ.
RACQ spokesperson Paul Turner said the demand for parking at major bus and rail stations could not keep up with the number of spaces.
“In many cases, commuters have no other option but to drive to their local public transport hub,” Mr Turner said.
“With limited car parks and a lack of feeder buses these commuters end up parking on local streets around their bus or train station.
“Residents who have to put up with cars choking up their streets are understandably pretty annoyed.
“These extra commuter car spaces should relieve some of the worst areas this is happening in.”
The State Budget funded nearly 2500 extra car parks around rail and bus stations at:
- Eight Mile Plains
- Springfield Central.
